MOA Signed for SWHT-Phase 1 in Camp John Hay Catchment Areas

Loakan, Baguio City – A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by the Ecosystem Research and Development Bureau (ERDB), represented by Director Maria Lourdes G. Ferrer, CESO III, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources—Cordillera Administrative Region (DENR-CAR), represented by Regional Executive Director Engr. Paquito T. Moreno, Jr., and the John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC), represented by its President and Chief Executive Officer, Atty. Marlo Ignacio V. Quadra. The MOA aims to collaborate on the implementation of Phase 1: Catchment Assessment and Characterization of the “Development of Surface Run-off Water Harvesting Technology (SWHT) in Camp John Hay (CJH) Catchment Areas.” on June 7, 2024, at the Office of the Watershed and Water Resources Research and Development Center in Loakan. This collaboration and teamwork represent a significant advancement in sustainable water management, aiming to enhance water availability and promote responsible resource management. 

The goal of the SWHT-Phase 1 project is to identify  and assess areas in CJH suitable for the development of surface run-off water harvesting technologies. When feasible, this advanced system will help collect rainwater and surface runoff, increasing water availability and supporting sustainable water resource management.

The ERDB, DENR-CAR, and JHMC are collaborating on various initiatives, such as water conservation projects and community outreach programs, to manage water resources responsibly and support environmental and community well-being. The SWHT-Phase 1 project is a pivotal milestone towards enhanced water resource management. Barangays such as Loakan-Liwanag, Scout Barrio, and Kadaclan will experience the positive impacts of this project. END
